The Retail Manager partners with the Visual Merchandiser to lead a profitable and customer-centric environment through the successful development of a team. They manage the selling and operations of the retail department; hiring and developing talent, maintaining consistent store controls, and applying merchant skills to curate a compelling customer experience.

LEADERSHIP

  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills; appropriately filters and communicates all store operations, process, and customer initiatives
  • Possesses strong assessment and decision-making skills
  • Is an entrepreneur, takes smart risks with measurable results
  • Provides global and department insight related to the customer experience and communicates information to retail team and head office
  • Reviews store budgets, sales, and activity reports to evaluate store performance
  • Sets and achieves financial targets/budgets through KPI’s
  • Facilitates the sharing of product knowledge for department
  • Builds and maintains productive partnerships

 

PEOPLE & DEVELOPMENT

  • Recruits, hires, and retains top talent to build the benchmark for the stores and brand
  • Supports the Store Manager and Visual Merchandiser in creating and maintaining a succession strategy
  • Ensures New Hires receive a thorough and thoughtful onboarding
  • Plans and executes meetings and workshops that are collaborative, educational and motivational
  • Administers performance appraisals, sets goals and conducts consistent touch-bases with direct reports
  • Ensures that coaching and counseling is consistent and timely
  • Takes responsibility for own development and professional growth, identifies and trains replacement in preparation for career progression

AESTHETIC UNDERSTANDING & APPLICATION

  • Upholds stock-to-sales processes and presentation standards
  • Leads retail team to understand and apply merchant skills to impact business and the customer experience
  • Maintains an effective store structure, floor plan, and merchandising plan
  • Has a strong understanding of trend and style that is reflective of the brand and core customer
  • Partners with the Visual Manager to assess and impact merchandising, floor planning, display and outfitting
  • Ensures the merchandising processes are collaborative, supported and well-planned
