Whether storing salt and grain in the kitchen, or saris and textiles in the bedroom, almirahs were a staple in any Indian household. Uncovered in Rajasthan, this petite 60-year-old almirah was from a rural haveli of the region and may have been used to house fresh produce and seasonal grain. It was handcrafted and carved from solid teak and has been sealed in a natural wax.
