Vintage Indian Shutter Almirah

$5,770 AUD

Almirahs of all shapes and sizes were fundamental to most Indian households. They are a wardrobe of sorts, usually crafted from timber or metal, and were often used to store salt and grain in the kitchen, or saris and kantha quilts in bedrooms. The reason we love them so much is because each almirah was just as unique as the home of which they were a part. Salvaged from in the heart of Rajasthan, this particular 80-year-old vintage almirah was once used to store folded blankets and clothing. It was expertly crafted by hand from solid teak, its beautiful design subtly nodding to British Colonial motifs.
