About the business

With Head Office currently based in Huskisson NSW (moving to South Nowra 2023), Indigo Love is a furniture and homewares business, known for its curated collection of handcrafted, one-of-a-kind, and unique product ranges. Our collection is a mix of old and new and includes our own imported antiques from India, China, Indonesia and Turkey.

We are a retail ( and wholesale business established in 2009, that has grown under private ownership and is looking for an experienced Company Accountant or aspiring Financial Controller to take control of the day-to-day business finance and administration function. 

The Position 

This role will require an organised and proactive individual to assist the two owners by handling all day-to-day accounting and administration. The candidate will be a qualified accountant with several years in a similar position in a small to medium sized enterprise. Additionally the person will take control of the management of Cin-7, Xero and other systems.

Reporting to the owners you will be expected to drive any change necessary to help future proof the business. 

This is a full-time permanent position for a professional looking to both lead and follow within an exciting and dynamic business. 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

You will be responsible for the overall accounting function including the administration and systems of the business. Including (but not limited to): 

  • Performance reviews and KPI reporting

  • Variance analysis and commentary

  • Cash flow management

  • Budgeting and forecasting 

  • Review and oversee Payroll & PAYGW

  • Supporting management in any relevant Finance and Administration tasks and projects as may be requested from time to time

  • Working with the owners you will improve oversight through improving on-going budgetary and cash flow management, this will be a very hands-on role with a team of just one to start with.

Reporting Responsibilities including: 

  • Statutory and financial reporting together with the external accountants 

  • BAS/IAS statements

  • Monthly Payroll Tax returns

  • Manage the bank and other institutional relationships 

Candidate Requirements

We require a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience. Your background must have equipped you with both day-to-day accounting management along with financial and management accounting skills beyond just the production of monthly accounts. You will have had the opportunity to work closely with the shareholders, providing reports and insight to management relating to issues that impact business performance, efficiency improvements and more stringent control over financial resources and will have a proven ability to look-forward. You will also have had experience implementing new IT systems and controls and will liaise with the company’s tech teams to ensure that new systems are fit for purpose and implemented efficiently. 

Other skills and essential personal attributes include: 

  • Advanced XERO accounting software 

  • Be a team player that actively participates and champions a supportive and values driven work environment

  • Good organising ability, enabling monthly deadlines/statutory filing dates etc. to be met

  • Computer skills to enable successful operation of accounting system and other systems

  • Ability to make a significant contribution to determining goals and objectives of the organisation

  • Provide positive, professional, optimal service to our customers, staff and stakeholders

  • Well-developed verbal & written communication skills 

  • Strong analytical capability 

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
