International Women's Day 2025.

Today we are celebrating women from all walks of life, we are hearing their stories and pausing for a moment to celebrate all that is woman and what it means to be a woman today.

In our little part of the world we are celebrating the women around us, the women that build us up and continue to inspire us. In particular today we are celebrating the incredible journey of Tara Solberg, the creative visionary and driving force behind Few & Far and Indigo Love. Tara's story is one of passion, determination, and an unwavering belief in the power of beautiful pieces and the story behind them.

It all began in the NSW coastal town of Jervis Bay, where Tara's love for design evolved.

A fresh-faced graduate with a design degree, she landed her dream job at surf brand Ocean & Earth. It was there she met Danny, her future husband and business partner, who shared her passion for creativity and adventure.

Their work took them on whirlwind trips around the world, forecasting trends and gathering inspiration. But it was a visit to a unique furniture showroom in California that sparked a new dream. "I'll never forget the moment," Tara recalls, "when Danny spotted the owner and said, 'I want to be him.'"

Motivated by this vision, Tara and Danny took a leap of faith and launched Few & Far in 2009. Their mission? To bring the world home, curating one-of-a-kind pieces that tell a story and inspire a sense of wonder.

The Few & Far journey continued with the opening of their second store, Indigo Love, in Huskisson in August 2010.

This was followed by the expansion to Berry in December 2015, Leura in April 2017, and Bowral in October 2017. In 2019, they relocated the Berry store to a larger location. And in September 2022 they opened the doors to their Thirroul location.

Fueled by their growing success, Tara and Danny achieved a significant milestone in 2024 – designing and building their own warehouse and HQ! This new space not only streamlined their operations but also served as a testament to their dedication and long-term vision for Few & Far.

Most recently, in December 2024, they opened their first Sydney store in Rosebery.

From the very beginning, Tara has been a hands-on leader, willing to roll up her sleeves and tackle any task.

Whether it's designing a new store layout, styling a photoshoot, or unpacking a container of newly arrived pieces, Tara's energy and enthusiasm is contagious.

This dedication and willingness to jump in alongside her team has nurtured a strong sense of community and shared purpose within the Few & Far family.

From Mother to Mother, I'm sure you can resonate with this moment in time . . . Tara's journey hasn't been without its challenges like all working parents. Every day is different and continues to keep you on your toes. Juggling a young family and a growing business requires resilience and a strong support system.

Tara vividly remembers one incredibly challenging trade fair in Melbourne. With a three-month-old baby and the support of her mother-in-law to care for her son while she navigated the demanding schedule of setting up and running the Indigo Love booth. It was a constant juggling act, running back and forth between feeding her baby and ensuring the space was merchandised as she had envisaged. "It was freezing cold and raining," Tara recounts, "my mother-in-law sat in a room off the side of the hall, holding out for as long as possible before calling me to come and feed him. It was really challenging for all of us. But we survived!"

Through it all, Tara's passion for design and her commitment to creating beautiful, meaningful spaces has never wavered.

"Our purpose has always been to provide a 'one-of-a-kind' experience that ignites passion, aspiration and an appreciation for creativity, craftsmanship and thoughtful interiors," Tara shared at the opening of the new Few & Far Sydney store at the Rosebery Engine Yards.

Today, Few & Far stands as a testament to Tara's vision and dedication. With its curated collection of unique pieces and contemporary designs, Few & Far has become a beloved destination for those seeking to create homes that reflect their personal style and tell their own stories.

Tara Solberg's journey is an inspiration to aspiring female entrepreneurs and a reminder that with passion, determination, and a supportive community, anything is possible.

Today Tara & Danny have stores in Huskisson, Berry, Bowral, Thirroul & Rosebery and big dreams for the future of Few & Far and Indigo Love.

This International Women's Day, let's celebrate Tara and all the women who are shaping our world with their creativity, vision, and unwavering spirit.

"And what a journey it has been! We’ve definitely learnt a lot through our 11 years in business, and have faced some pretty big challenges along the way. But I can wholeheartedly say I wouldn’t change a thing."
