This year’s theme is Alchemy, and at our Few and Far Showroom in Rosebery we’re exploring that idea through our Re/crafted exhibition. We’ve invited a group of artists and creatives to take pieces from our collection and transform them through their own creative lens. It’s about taking something familiar and changing its form, its meaning and the way we see it.

"I try to work as intuitively as possible, but my initial thought was to engrave into the resin or to paint a story or fable across the lamp shade. I too noticed the lamp was called ‘ochiba’ and after doing some research, I learnt that this translates to “fallen leaves” in Japanese. This then inspired me to use living material to adorn the lamp, whether that be fallen leaves, overlooked gems, broken shells."

Stone’s work is defined by her exploration of composition, colour, pattern, and texture. With her expressive, urgent and intuitive mark making she renders the intimate and the everyday—scenes of food, household objects, and the quiet details of daily life. For Stone the act of creating is as significant as the finished piece, a meditative process of translating feeling and memory into form, underpinned by a desire to hold onto beauty and fleeting experience.
"The shape, texture and title of the object already spoke to its concept, so it was a given that I would build on this through colour and my imprint my own spin on it's existing nature-inspired form. I've always been drawn to colours and shapes in nature, and in particular flowers, shells and coral. I was also drawn to the textural surface of the piece, so exploring how paint moves and mixes on a different surface to canvas has been lots of fun."
