The school holidays are almost finished but there’s still time for adventure and family fun. This is your invitation to create a memorable adventure—one that blends high-energy fun with mindful, intentional pauses.

We've curated a comprehensive, family-friendly itinerary that blends local experiences with the serene charm of three of our favourite towns: Thirroul, Berry, and Huskisson. Every stop is a memory-making opportunity, designed to inspire the pieces you’ll bring back to your home.

Thirroul & Surrounds: The Coastal Adventure

Thirroul is your invitation to begin the escape south, offering a beautiful collision of dramatic coastline and genuine community soul.

This is a vibrant haven where the rhythm of the ocean and the creative spirit of the Illawarra perfectly meet. Thirroul's heart is found not just in its stunning views, but in the people who define its laid-back character—a community of artists, surfers, and passionate local businesses. Every laneway and coffee shop feels unique, giving the village an authentic, energetic soul. It’s the perfect, inspiring first stop on your journey, offering a taste of the coastal life we all dream of.

The Scenic Drive & Must-See Stops

The journey itself is the first attraction! Take the scenic Grand Pacific Drive and drive across the famous Sea Cliff Bridge—be sure to pull over at the lookout just before the bridge to capture the iconic photo moment. For an activity that thrills the family, a visit to Symbio Wildlife Park near Stanwell Tops is always a hit.

Stop along the way to take in views & burn some energy at local bush walking tracks like Wodi Wodi & Sublime Pont walking track.

Travelling down are iconic local stops like The Imperial at Clifton, Earth Walker Cafe, Rosie’s Fish & Chips, and Headlands Hotel.

Thera are so many incredible places to visit!

Coastal Culture & Village Life

Immerse yourself in the laid-back Illawarra culture. For a break with the little ones, Thirroul Beach Pavilion offers delicious coffee and treats right on the beach with flags and next to a fantastic park with plenty of space to run around and even a small bike track if you packed the bikes or scooters.

Grab coffee and pastries from Finbox Café or Black Market Coffee.

For a relaxed coastal meal, local favourites like South Sailor or Homecoming offer family-friendly dining.

Few & Far Store: Thirroul

Your first creative pause. Our Few & Far Thirroul store showcases a curated selection of coastal-inspired homewares, original art, relaxed furniture, and unique gifts. Find the perfect pieces to bring the laid-back, sun-drenched vibe of the Illawarra coast into your home.

— Follow the Road —

The journey shifts here. As you leave the escarpment of the Illawarra behind, follow the quiet road inland. The air changes—softens—and the landscape opens up into rolling, green country hills. This is the mindful transition from the sea salt air to the gentle charm of the Shoalhaven region.

Berry: Charm, Treats, and Curated Shopping

A necessary stop on any South Coast itinerary, Berry offers a perfect mix of history, artisan treats, and sophisticated country charm.

Berry is your essential stop to slow down, offering a unique blend of sophisticated country elegance and genuine community warmth. This is a village built on heritage and hospitality, where every boutique, café, and bakery is an intentional experience. The community here is dedicated to high-quality—from the famous treats to the local artisan shops—making it a perfect destination for a mindful pause. Stepping into Berry feels like entering a beautiful, collected story, offering a complete contrast to the coastline just a short drive away.

Indulge & Play

A visit is absolutely incomplete without a stop at the famous Berry Donut Van (a rite of passage)!

Families will love the fantastic Boongaree Rotary Nature Play Park, which offers innovative and extensive outdoor play areas for all ages.

Gourmet Pause & Local Finds

Berry is a foodie haven. Enjoy a delicious (insta worthy) meal at a local spot like The Garden, or grab a woodfired sourdough from Milkwood Bakery for the drive and a coffee fix from IV Coffee. Beyond the main street, take time to browse local artisan stores like Haven & Space and Amara Home collecting small, meaningful pieces of the Shoalhaven region.

Few & Far Cornerstone: Berry

Located in the heart of the village, Few & Far Berry is your destination for gathering inspiration. This larger flagship store is where you can explore our wide range of unique furniture and foundational pieces, designed to capture the spirit of quiet country elegance.

— Follow the Road —

The final leg of the journey calls you back to the water. As you drive from the green hills toward the coast, the air grows sharper, signalling crystal waters ahead. Your destination is the famous Jervis Bay—the perfect reward for the road well-travelled.

Huskisson & Jervis Bay: Watery Serenity

End your journey at one of the world's most pristine coastal areas, known for its white sands and crystal-clear waters—a true dose of ocean calm.

Huskisson is the tranquil, powerful culmination of the South Coast journey. This is more than a town; it is a community fiercely dedicated to the wild, pristine spirit of Jervis Bay. The whole village moves at the rhythm of the water, offering a laid-back, authentic charm where the coffee counters are just steps from the pristine white sand. The community's energy is centred on the deep blue horizon, providing a palpable sense of freedom and serenity that washes over you the moment you arrive.

Aquatic Adventures & Local Dining Flavours

Huskisson is all about the water. The waters of Jervis Bay are renowned for their marine life; go dolphin or whale watching on a cruise from the wharf, or hire a kayak/paddleboard. For a quiet moment, find a secluded spot on Hyams Beach & visit The Cooked Goose or along the Jervis Bay foreshore.

If the weather isn't the best and it's raining, Huskisson Pictures is a great option for families.

When you're ready for something to eat or drink. Enjoy classic fresh seafood at Husky Fresh Fish & Chips or grab a meal at The Huskisson Hotel. Jervis Bay Coffee Co is highly recommended for your caffeine fix.

Be sure to notice the unique local crafts and small businesses that thrive on the coastal lifestyle.

Few & Far Moment: Huskisson

Before you leave, visit our smallest store Few & Far Huskisson (located in Currambene St opposite the bakery) or head out to our large Showroom - located in the Industrial Estate, a short 2 minute drive, to collect final treasures that bottle the serenity of Jervis Bay to take home.

School Holiday Travel Tips: Maximize Your Mindful Trip

To ensure your road trip is as calm as it is memorable, consider these final tips:

Pack for Intentional Pauses: Bring a blanket and keep cup to utilise the many parks and coastal lookouts for spontaneous, quiet picnics.

Fuel Your Journey: Map out your coffee stops in advance to ensure you maintain that "slow living" pace and avoid rushing through without that moment to pause.

Collect Memories: Collect small, natural keepsakes (like shells or unique stones) that can be styled alongside your Few & Far pieces at home, serving as a reminder of the journey you took and the memories made.

The school holiday adventure may end, but the memories you collected—the scent of the sea, the pretty light of the hills—should never be forgotten. This journey has given you more than just beautiful moments; it’s given you the inspiration to elevate your everyday.

Every Few & Far store is a destination of its own — a place to choose pieces that will hold the memory of this road trip long after the school bags are packed again.

Travel safe and we look forward to welcoming you at a Few & Far store soon.
