Walk the path your furniture will take from the delivery vehicle to its final position.
Consider: Gates · pathways · steps · verandahs · building entrances · foyers.
Measure any narrow or restricted areas along the way.
Measure the height and clear width of all doorways and hallways along the delivery path.
Remember to allow for anything that reduces the opening, including: Door handles · frames · hinges · handrails.
How far does the door actually open?
And don't forget the corners. Make sure there is enough space on either side of the doorway to turn and manoeuvre your piece.
If your furniture needs to travel upstairs, check the:
Stair width · ceiling height · landings · tight turns
Using a lift? Measure both the door opening and the internal width, depth and height.
Look for anything that could get in the way as your furniture moves through your home.
Think: Pendant lights · artwork · plants · rugs · low ceilings · rails · existing furniture
Where possible, move these before delivery or consider an alternative route.
Now compare your access measurements with the dimensions of your chosen piece (found in the details section of each product page).
FIND YOUR TIGHTEST POINT.
Pay particular attention to the smallest doorway, narrowest hallway or tightest turn along the entire route. Your furniture needs to fit through here, not just fit in the room.
TIP: Use painter's tape or newspaper to mark the dimensions of your new furniture on the floor. It's an easy way to check the scale and how much space you'll have around it.
Before your new furniture arrives, we kindly suggest:
1. Removing furniture that is being replaced, as our delivery team is unable to assist in moving existing furniture.
2. Clearing a path and protecting anything that may be susceptible to damage such as floors, furniture, décor or entryways.
3. Moving pets to a separate room to keep them safe.
4. Arrange lift or building access if needed
If you're unsure whether a piece will fit, send our team the product, your measurements and a few photos of any tight access areas before ordering.
PLEASE NOTE. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure furniture can safely access its intended location. Please refer to our Delivery and Returns policies for full terms and conditions. If the item you have purchased does not fit and therefore cannot be placed in your home, this will result in a restocking fee to return your item, along with forfeiting the delivery fee already paid.
