The Character Semi proves that transformation does not always require more space. With no extension or major structural change, Three Birds Renovations worked within the home’s original footprint, preserving its charm.
Few & Far furniture, lighting and objects add rich, tactile layers to a palette of warm neutrals. Contemporary forms sit alongside pieces with texture and irregularity, creating a home that feels unique and refreshed without becoming entirely new.
The Character Semi is a small inner-city Sydney home, renovated within its existing footprint.
Rather than extending or dramatically changing the layout, Three Birds Renovations retained the architectural details while finding new ways to bring in light, storage and places to gather and live.
By restoring what makes it special in the first place, this home celebrates contemporary living and timeless design.
A rich, autumnal palette runs through the Few & Far pieces selected for the Character Semi.
Deep mahogany, dark metal, timber and stone bring substance to the softer colours of the interior, while sculptural lighting and decorative objects draw the eye.
Each piece contributes something different, but the thread is the same: expressive forms, tactile materials and details that give each room its own identity.
In the living room, the deep mahogany Talon Sofa sets the tone against the dark, ridged surface of the Archie Coffee Table. The Corwin Chair brings softness and tactility, while the stacked Spool Floor Lamp adds height and rhythm.
That sense of character continues in the smaller details: a vintage bowl on the coffee table, the sculptural Isle Vase at the centre of the dining nook, the rippled coral glass of the Brunelle Table Lamp atop the pink marble of the Waverly Table, and a vintage Indian water vessel repurposed to hold blooms.
