There is a specific, fleeting magic that arrives with the season of Autumn. It’s in the way the light turns honey-hued as it hits the escarpment in Thirroul, and the way the air carries a crispness that allows us to pull the doors shut and turn our gaze inward.
I’ve always believed that our homes are the silent narrators of our lives. They hold the echoes of the laughter from dinner parties past and the quiet stillness of our morning rituals. As the seasons shift, so too should the stories we tell within our four walls. At Few and Far, we call this the "Art of the Evolved Home"—a philosophy that styling isn’t about a total overhaul, but about the slow, intentional layering of texture, light, and history.
As our Interior Stylist, Gonia, beautifully notes:
"Autumn Entertaining doesn’t need to be complicated. With a clear palette and thoughtful layering, you can create a table that feels curated, relaxed and ready for shared moments at home."
Here is how we are inviting the energy of Autumn in this year.
Entertaining, to me, has always felt like a ceremony. It’s an offering to the people we love. This season, we are stepping away from the chaotic and leaning into the cohesive. We’ve curated a tablescape palette that feels like a gentle exhale—choosing two to three tonal shades and repeating them with a rhythmic persistence.
We start with the Suiki Blush range. There is something incredibly grounding about the Suiki Dinner Plate in Dusty Pink; its matte finish feels like sun-drenched terracotta. By repeating this tone across your plates, glassware, and even the florals, you build a colour story that feels connected and calm. It allows the conversation to take centre stage, anchored by a table that doesn't scream for attention but quietly commands it.
The soul of a room lives in the "Material Mix." It’s the blend between the old and the new, the raw and the refined, that creates true beauty. To make a setting feel elevated, you must play with contrast.
On our Autumn table, we find magic in the unexpected:
The Weight of Stone: We use marble not just for its luxury, but for its permanence. A Juliette Tray in Cherry Marble or the scalloped Calile Tray in Pink Lagoon provides a cool, heavy foundation for your most treasured objects.
The Warmth of Brass touches: Pair that marble with the flickering light of Vintage Indian Candlestands. The aged brass carries a patina that only time can gift, offering a golden warmth that contrasts perfectly against the matte ceramics.
We've always been a collector of stories. we believe every home needs "found" objects—pieces that have lived a life before they reached your shelves. These are the anchors that prevent a home from feeling "catalogue-perfect" and instead make it feel "perfectly lived-in and intentional."
In the Rosebery store, we are layering in Chinese Vintage Wine Pots—each one unique, weathered by 60 to 80 years of history. We sit them alongside a Vintage Indian Spice Box, its wood smooth from decades of use. These aren't just accessories; they are conversation starters. They remind us that the most beautiful things in life are often those that have been weathered by time.
Autumn in Australia doesn't always give us the fiery maples of the northern hemisphere, so we create that drama ourselves. We use florals to introduce rich, wine-stained tones into our neutral spaces.
Our faux florals are designed to be indistinguishable from the real thing, capturing that moment just before the bloom fades. We love a tall, architectural vase filled with Berry Pepper Spray in Pink Burgundy, mixed with the deep, moody hues of Burgundy Hydrangeas (available in store) and Purple Branches. It’s about creating a sense of wild, untamed beauty in the centre of your home.
As the sun dips earlier behind the horizon, the way we light our sanctuaries becomes our most vital design choice. Lighting with intention is about more than visibility; it’s about atmosphere. It’s about the "quiet drama" of a sculptural lamp or the ethereal glow of a pendant that mimics the moonlight.
Swap the overhead glare for the intimacy of a table lamp. Let the light bounce off the ripple of hand-blown glass and catch the edges of your marble trays. It’s in these pockets of warmth that we find the space to truly stay.
Whether you are hosting a dinner that lasts until the early hours or a quiet Sunday lunch for two, let your table be a reflection of the season you are in.
This is your invitation to slow down, to touch the textures of the "Material Mix," and to find the pieces that resonate with your own story. Visit us in-store at Thirroul, Berry, Bowral, Huskisson or Rosebery to experience the Autumn Edit in person, or explore our curated collection online.
Welcome home to Autumn.
Drawing from years of experience in homewares and design, we celebrate conscious buying, artisanal craftsmanship, and are driven by the belief that every space should be a collection of pieces that tell stories from past and present and make ways for the narrative to continue in the future. Our mission is to inspire, guide, and help you weave a unique and meaningful story within your own walls.
