Continuing our road trip, we're drawn to the coast – where sunrises paint the sky in breathtaking pastels, precious moments with family unfold against a backdrop of white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters, and even the promise of a sneaky cocktail lingers in the salty air.

We might be a tad biased, being South Coast locals, but Jervis Bay has a special feeling. Whether you're winding your way down the Princes Highway from Sydney, the coastline revealing its stunning beauty at every turn, or enjoying a scenic drive through the rolling countryside from Canberra, the journey to this little part of the world is part of the adventure.

The laid-back, utterly charming town of Huskisson.

Take a trip down memory lane with us. Back in September 2009, we opened our very first Few and Far store right here in Huskisson, the place where we grew up. That little store, pictured with its welcoming facade, will always hold a special place in our hearts – the starting point of our Few and Far journey.

But Huskisson is so much more than just being a part of the Few & Far history; it's a beautiful coastal town with so much to offer for the whole family.

Coffee stops.

For the essential morning coffee (or a midday pick-me-up), pop into Harley's right in the heart of Huskisson, visit the friendly faces at 5 Little Pigs, or the popular Cooked Goose at Hyams Beach, where the ocean breeze accompanies your caffeine fix.

Things to do.

Jervis Bay is an outdoor playground for families. Take a gentle stroll along Greenfields Beach, perfect for little legs. Let the kids explore and play at the park, with its wide-open spaces and picnic area.

There are lots of beaches huddled together close to Hyams Beach. Chinamans Beach is the next beach over (only around 5 minutes’ walk) and is a bit quieter than its famous neighbour.

Moona Moona Creek has to be a favourite place to stop with the kiddies on a sunny day. Take your stand up paddle boards, snorkelling gear and beach activities!

If it’s raining Huskisson Pictures is a step back in time and one of the sweetest little cinema’s you will ever come across.

A day on the water.

Let’s turn the day trip into an overnighter.

Finding the perfect place to stay is incredibly important when you have little ones to think of. Huskisson and the surrounding areas offer a range of beautiful accommodation options. Sea Loft in Hyams Beach is just a 3-minute walk from the beach and would suit most otherwise the cabins at local caravan parks are perfect for travelling families. If it’s just the two of you, Akora Cabin, a simply luxurious one bedroom tiny home designed by Darren Palmer, is ideal.

If I were there right now? You'd find me with a coffee in hand from Cooked Goose Cafe, watching the sunrise at Hyams Beach.
