It's been a long time coming, but we have finally put together some amazing images from a recent photoshoot we have completed. It's definitely something we will do more regularly, as we have always known the importance of having great photos, but also because it was such a fun 2 days! I love that feeling of satisfaction, of seeing everything come together. Sometimes it feels a little overwhelming when the room infront of you is piled high with boxes and a big 'mess'... it's hard to get past this and to keep positive about creating the idyllic scenes you have pictured in your mind... but once you get there, it really is magical and definitely very satisfying.
For this particular shoot, we wanted a backdrop that was rustic, textural and raw... exposed brickwork, concrete, natural timbers... after a bit of searching, we put a shout out on Instagram and ended up finding The Gerringong Co-operative, a wedding venue. We wanted to create warm, yet rustic settings that included a mix of modern pieces with old/reclaimed pieces to really create images that pull at the heart strings! Not your everyday interior... something a little more imaginative to capture that 'magic', and The Co-operative was the perfect location.
It was a pretty intense 2 days. We delivered all of our furniture and decor items (2 van loads as well as a full truck!) and unpacked on the Sunday afternoon, ready for an early morning start on Monday... Monday morning came and it was all systems go! We had our plans in place, our inspirational references and our sneakers on! We were so fortunate to work with such talented creatives! Maree Homer our photographer, Kayla Gex (Senior Stylist at House and Garden Magazine), Melissa Barratt from Bellalulu Styling, my very handy and clever Dad and myself and Danny... we made a great team!
The best thing was getting that 'perfect' shot styled and captured, but then watching the transformation from 'actual' setting to on screen - it was amazing - I loved seeing the final shot pop up onto the screen of the ipad, and it was magazine worthy right there! Maree Homer is one seriously talented photographer, and she had done such a perfect job at capturing that 'feeling' we aimed to create.
Overall, it was very successful 2 days and we really couldn't have done it without our 'dream team'. Thank you so much Maree, Kayla and Mel - and of course Dad (who hung all of our chandeliers and made all of our 'unusual' requests work as always!) and also to Danny, who often threw his 2 cents worth in whether it was asked for or not, but always achieved a 'better' result! A great bonding day (and workout!), and we were all very sore after it was all done and dusted from moving so much furniture!
I hope you love the results as much as we do! xxx
