“This is the best life I’ve ever had.” Those words, spoken on a sun-drenched day in Jervis Bay, changed everything. Join Tara as she shares a personal note on slowing down, breathing deep, and the art of living with intention.

I’ve been sitting with a few thoughts lately, and it felt like the right time to share them with you. Not as an update or an announcement—just a pure moment of reflection, from me to you.

It’s hard for me to put into words the feeling I get when I’m truly happy. It’s almost like a sense of weightlessness; a little whirlwind of joy swirling around inside of me, lifting my cheeks into a smile so wide it feels like it might spill over. I’ve often thought about how to describe this feeling, and a number of years ago, my nephew articulated it perfectly.

The Jervis Bay Breath

It was one of those picture-perfect summer days in Jervis Bay. A magical blue sky, the sun shining, and the whisper of a soft breeze. Danny had organised to take the boat out with his brother and his boys. I've been fortunate enough to grow up boating in Jervis Bay, and those days will always be some of my happiest memories.

There’s just something about being out on the water. Floating. Looking back at the shoreline from a distance. Everything slows down. Your shoulders drop. You breathe differently. It almost forces you to take a deep breath and to slowly exhale.

As we cruised out from the ramp, a pod of dolphins appeared, riding the bow of the boat. The water was crystal clear. I remember turning to look over at the kids, and their faces said everything—big smiles, eyes wide, completely in the moment. And then came the words that will stay with me forever:

“This is the best life I’ve ever had.”

Watching him feel it so fully and so instinctively was something special. I knew exactly what he meant.

The Shift Toward Intention

The summer holidays always bring this same sense of joy for me. The long days, the good food, and that magical feeling of salty skin. But having this time also allows me to sit back and reflect. Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about Intention.

I know it can sound a little cliché, especially at the start of a new year. But for me, this moment makes sense. It’s the only time of year where I almost let myself switch off. I slow down enough to zoom out and ask myself how I want the year ahead to feel—not just what I want to achieve.

This year, the word that keeps coming back to me is Intentional.

To me, being intentional isn’t about doing more; it’s about doing things with purpose. It’s choosing where I put my energy, my time, and my attention—and being okay with what I leave behind. I know I can get distracted by "shiny things" and too many ideas (and Danny is usually quite good at reining me in!), but keeping intention at the forefront helps me pause. It helps me consider which ideas are worth pursuing, and which ones can wait.

Leading with Clarity

Being intentional is understanding that my actions matter. The outcomes we want in life and business don't happen by accident; they are shaped by the choices we make every day.

In life: This looks like being more present. Saying "yes" more thoughtfully. Protecting the moments that give me that light, floaty, summer feeling.

In business: It means leading with clarity. Making decisions that align with what we value and creating with purpose. It’s about choosing growth that feels considered, not rushed.

To start the year on this note, I took our leadership team out on a boat in Jervis Bay for the day. What better way to connect than to offer them the opportunity to experience their own "best life"? We spent the day slowing down—talking openly and asking honest questions about how we show up for one another and for you.

A Question for you, Our Community

I don’t have it all mapped out yet. But I do know that if I can move through the year with intention—in the way I work, create, and live—I’ll be heading in the right direction.

Before I sign off, I wanted to ask you, our community:

  • What is it that you love most about Few and Far?
  • What moments, pieces, or experiences have stayed with you?
  • How can we continue to create spaces that make you feel truly at home?

I’d love to hear from you. It’s a privilege to create thoughtfully, intentionally, and alongside a community that values what we love to do so much.

With love,
