I like to say we have an “open door” policy when it comes to vintage pieces.  On our sourcing travels we try to keep an open mind and let our imagination dream up useful new ways to use these old forgotten items. We love to think of creative ways one could use them in their home, especially vintage doors and gates.

Sometimes when we assume a piece, like a door, has one sole purpose, it can be difficult to think outside the box and imagine it elsewhere. That is why we have sourced some beautiful imagery to inspire your thought direction.  Encourage yourself to see ordinary things in different ways and I’m sure you will surprise yourself with what you can come up with!

Better your bathroom...

Bathrooms these days have a tendency of looking very stark and sterile especially if you are using a lot of white.  Rethink standard glass screens and ordinary vanities. Adding in rustic textures and statement pieces, like a vintage door, really compliment a modern look and brings in some interest.

Bedhead at it's best…

We just can’t get enough of these bedhead ideas!  They are the perfect way to anchor your bed and give your room that WOW factor.  If you can’t imagine them going behind your bed upright then try looking at them from a horizontal point of view too.

Our Secret For the Garden…

Garden decor is very limited/mass produced and lets face it, not very pretty.  If you are wanting to give your boring yard a more unique element then a vintage door or gate could definitely be the solution to your problem! Use it as a decorative panel on a wall and let greenery grow around it.  Or you could actually use it as the entrance into your enchanted garden!

Storage Saviours...

Pantries, closets and built in wardrobes are not always the most exciting feature of a home but with a vintage door they most certainly can be. Don't just stop at the doors! Make all storage pretty and functional by using timber crates and woven baskets.

Doors as Decorative Elements...

Some decor elements don’t specifically have to have a rhyme or reason.  If you love something and you want to feature it in your home then go for it! I love how these doors are purely used for decorative purposes yet they add so much life and character into the rooms they inhabit.
