The air in our Berry flagship store was buzzing with inspiration. This past Sunday, we had the immense pleasure of hosting acclaimed interior designer and stylist Jono Fleming for the launch of his new book, A Visual Feast: Ingredients That Make A Home, alongside an exclusive Styling Masterclass. It was a truly beautiful moment, a full-circle conversation about the very heart of what we believe in at Few & Far.
Tara, our founder, perfectly captured the feeling: "You gave me goosebumps speaking about Few & Far, thank you Jono!".
One of Jono's most resonant observations during the event was a powerful truth about the Australian design landscape: "In Australia, we are so starved for variety, we are starved for anything interesting and different."
This is precisely why Few & Far exists. Jono applauded our commitment to "do our own thing," to resist mass-market trends and instead embark on dedicated sourcing trips overseas by our Founders Danny & Tara. This pursuit of the unique, the handcrafted, and the culturally rich ensures that our collection stands apart. As Jono articulated, "You can’t find this anywhere else."
For designers and everyday homeowners alike, this means access to pieces that truly differentiate a space. "As a stylist, as a designer I gravitate towards brands like this because there’s more to see, there’s more to play with," Jono shared, acknowledging the depth and versatility our collection offers for creative expression.
Jono’s book, A Visual Feast, is a celebration of that very philosophy. Featuring in-depth profiles of eight beautifully designed, inspirational homes from around the world, it serves up inspiration for creating spaces that reflect your unique style and personality.
Just like a great recipe, designing a room is all about balance, layering, and adding a pinch of the unexpected. The book explores the core "ingredients"—Space, Light, Texture, Layers, Colour, Story, Culture, and Pattern—that bring a home to life.
Jono emphasised the importance of intentionality, urging attendees to look beyond fleeting trends and invest in pieces with meaning: "Buy the ceramic but don’t just buy the ceramic because it’s there, buy the plate that you’re going to eat off everyday and you’re going to want to use... use it everyday because that will tell your story."
Packed with creative ideas and design "recipes" for every room, the book guides you through building unique interiors that feel fresh, inviting, and entirely you.
At the core of A Visual Feast is the philosophy that a home is more than just a collection of objects—it's a reflection of your life's story. Jono emphasised the importance of intentionality, a concept deeply embedded in our own sourcing ethos.
He urged attendees to look beyond fleeting trends and invest in pieces with meaning: "Buy the ceramic but don’t just buy the ceramic because it’s there, buy the plate that you’re going to eat off everyday and you’re going to want to use... use it everyday because that will tell your story."
This speaks directly to the Few & Far belief that every object in your home should earn its place, becoming a part of your daily ritual and, over time, a cherished heirloom imbued with personal history. It's about seeking out those "pieces that aren’t just decor but they double up"—beautiful and functional, soulful and practical.
Jono also offered invaluable insights into the practical art of styling, emphasising that homes, like lives, are richer when they are layered. "I’m a curated maximalist," he revealed, sharing how even blending styles with a minimalist husband can lead to the most beautiful harmony. "Everyone is different. You can’t just put this label on it but the thing I love about interiors and the thing I do with clients is layer homes and make them feel personal."
He shared a tip with everyone: "Play with height, make sure things aren’t all on the same level." This simple piece of advice encourages a dynamic, visually engaging approach to styling, using varying textures, forms, and elevations to create vignettes that draw the eye and invite discovery. Our collection, with its diverse range of furniture, sculptural objects, and textiles, is designed to support exactly this kind of thoughtful, layered design.
Jono Fleming's visit to Few & Far Berry was a powerful reminder that truly beautiful interiors are born from authenticity, personal narrative, and a courageous commitment to the unique. His book, A Visual Feast, is an inspiring guide to embracing these principles, encouraging you to decorate with confidence and build a home that is unmistakably you.
We are incredibly grateful to Jono for his support, his insightful words, and for giving us all the courage to lean in and trust our own styles.
