Join us as we welcome Alexandra Blunn to the Few & Far Artist in Residence. From the rolling hills of Berry to the quiet sanctuary of the studio, explore a collection that transcends the canvas to bring "positive vibes" and the pure magic of home into your space.

There is a sacredness in the return. A quiet, hummed melody that calls us back to the parts of ourselves we left behind in the rush of becoming.

For Alexandra Blunn, our newest Artist in Residence at Few & Far, that melody began in the sun-drenched, rolling hills of Berry. It is a landscape that doesn’t just sit on the horizon; it breathes into her studio. It is the deciduous gold of Autumn leaves against a sharp, green paddock—a contrast that Alexandra has spent a lifetime observing, and now, a decade translating into a visual language of happiness.

But the journey to this collection, “Home,” wasn't a straight line. Like so many of us, Alexandra moved away from her initial spark to navigate the worlds of beauty therapy and energetic healing. She learned the language of the soul and the importance of the spaces we inhabit. Yet, it was the raw, transformative threshold of motherhood—that profound shift that redefines who we are—that finally demanded she pick up the brush again.

In the quiet, heavy shadows of postnatal anxiety, the canvas became more than a surface; it became a sanctuary. A place where the "outside noise" could finally be silenced by the rhythmic scrape of an oil stick and the fluid grace of acrylics. It was here, in the vulnerability of new life, that Alexandra found herself again.

A personal note from the Artist

"For me, painting is a meditative experience. I feel completely absorbed in the process, channeling positive energy into each and every piece. My hope is that the love I put into these canvases transcends the frame and elevates not just the visual aspect of your room, but the very feel of your space."
— Alexandra Blunn

The Poetry of the Everyday

We often overlook the magic that sits right in front of us. We look for beauty in the grand gestures, forgetting that life is actually lived in the steam rising from a morning coffee and the way it makes you feel when you wrap your hands around the warmth of your favourite cup. We forget the simple, cinematic way the Tuesday afternoon sunlight hits a bowl of fruit on the counter.

This collection is an invitation to look closer at the life you’ve created. Alexandra treats the "everyday"—a spotty jug sitting on a timber bench, a bowl of orchard-fresh pears, the rumpled corner of a picnic rug—with the appreciation of a masterpiece.

She challenges us to see the kitchen and the garden not as chores to be managed, but as the two beating hearts of a storied life. Through her eyes, “The Summer Picnic” isn't just a meal; it’s a celebration of frivolity and the deep, uncomplicated joy of friendship. “The Girls” isn't just a large-scale painting; it’s a tribute to the agrarian lifestyle and the invisible threads of support that bind women together in small, coastal communities. It’s a nod to the "little helpers" in the garden, capturing the quiet sounds of the paddocks as the sun sets.

The Studio Ritual: Infusing the Invisible

What sets Alexandra’s work apart is the layer you cannot see, but you can certainly feel. Drawing on her history as an energetic healer, she treats her studio practice as a meditation. She doesn't just paint a scene; she feels it.

When she enters her studio, she isn't just picking up a brush; she is setting an intention. “I thrive on positive vibes in my studio,” she tells us, “and I consciously channel that energy into every piece.” The process is a tactile dialogue. She begins with a whisper of a colour or a memory of a shape—but quickly, the painting takes on a life of its own. Layers of acrylic form the soul, while finishing touches of oil stick and chalk pastel add the "perfectly imperfect" grit that mirrors the reality of a well-lived life. There is a beautiful tension in her work; a push and pull of texture and tone that results in a piece that doesn't just sit on a wall, but vibrates within the room.

The "Home" Collection: A Curated Narrative

Alexandra’s paintings kindly request to be felt. They carry the happy feelings of a Berry afternoon and the intentional healing of an artist who knows that a home's energy is its most valuable asset.

At Few & Far, we talk often about the Art of Staying in—the deliberate choice to slow down and surround ourselves with things that matter. Alexandra’s work is the ultimate expression of this. When you bring a piece from the “Home” collection into your space, you aren't just filling a space on a wall; you are inviting in a rhythm of movement, a touch of Berry magic, and a lasting sense of happiness.
