In an era governed by algorithmic efficiency, we have been conditioned to value the fastest path. We click, we purchase, and we receive—all within a matter of hours, without ever exchanging a glance, a word, or a physical interaction. The modern retail ecosystem has successfully optimised for convenience and speed. Yet, in this relentless pursuit of frictionless transaction, a quiet question remains: What have we left behind?
This is a question our founder, Tara Solberg, has been reflecting on deeply. What makes a physical store truly worth leaving the house for?
The answer is never convenience. It is not about simply finding the exact item you set out to look for, checking it off a list, and rushing back out the door. Rather, the magic of an immersive boutique shopping destination belongs to something entirely unhurried: the simple joy of wandering without a glance at the time, the discovery of a completely unexpected treasure, and the sensory conversations that stay with you long after you have returned home.
Our physical spaces—from our curated interior showroom design layouts to the historic brick-and-mortar locations that hold our pieces—are purposefully designed to stand in direct opposition to the hurry of modern commerce. They are tactile stores built for slow exploration.
When you wander through a space that celebrates a collected home decor style, you are interacting with stories. A mass-produced webpage cannot replicate the smell of aged timber, the heavy cool touch of hand-carved stone, or the gentle, ambient light reflecting off a textured accent piece.
These brick-and-mortar storefronts are physically structured to invite curiosity rather than quick navigation. When we step into a physical environment built on material honesty, our focus shifts. We move out of our heads and into our senses. We run our fingers across the tactile textures of raw linen cushions, note the intricate joinery of an antique sideboard, and realise that a home is built on these small, physical discoveries.
To bring this philosophy to life, we have intentionally anchored our brick-and-mortar storefronts in historic, texturally rich locations that mirror our commitment to craftsmanship, soul, and slow living. Each store is uniquely styled so that no two visits—and no two stores—ever feel the same.
"I've been to a few of the showrooms on the South Coast and the Berry Showroom as-well, the Thirroul one I love, I just like that they all have their own personality." - Jono Fleming, Designer
The Vibe: Coastal sanctuary and the birthplace of our retail stores.
The Experience: Nestled in the charming seaside cottage where Few & Far first began in 2009, our Huskisson home is a beloved treasure trove. Here, light linen slipcovers, sun-bleached finishes, and organic white stoneware mirror the natural rhythm of Jervis Bay. It remains the definitive stop for anyone seeking authentic curated homewares on the South Coast.
The Vibe: Historic charm and timeless countryside architecture.
The Experience: Set on the bustling main street of historic Berry, this store space functions as a rich architectural escape. The multi-layered showroom features our deepest collections of unique global antiques, statement pieces, and rustic textiles. It is a slow-shopping destination specifically curated for weekend design pilgrimages.
The Vibe: Sophisticated, layered country estate living.
The Experience: Located in the heart of the Southern Highlands, our Bowral gallery leans into the "organic luxe" and warm minimalist aesthetic. Tailored to grand, slow-paced homes, this location showcases our monumental solid timber dining tables, deep leather armchairs, and heavy wool elements designed to introduce a permanent structural backbone to regional spaces.
The Vibe: Creative, breath-taking coastal vibes.
The Experience: Set across two magnificent levels just an hour south of Sydney, our furniture store in Thirroul is well worth the journey over the Sea Cliff Bridge. This expansive space beautifully balances coastal textures with bold, original artwork and sculptural furniture statement pieces, perfectly matching the artistic energy of the local community.
The Vibe: Industrial grandeur meets soulful, high-end design.
The Experience: Housed within the historic, beautifully repurposed Rosebery Engine Yards, our flagship Sydney furniture showroom bridges the industrial grit of the city’s manufacturing heritage with the refined, tactile soul of modern curation. Featuring high ceilings, exposed brick, and hand-fitted architectural detailing, this monumental layout serves as an inspiring design house for city dwellers looking to elevate their interior environments.
"What I love about the Rosebery Showroom, is that it has the vibes that Few and Far has in all of their regional showrooms, but it's here in it's new context in Sydney and it's so layered and so beautiful, it's exactly what you'd expect from Few and Far." - Jono Fleming, Designer
Why do certain spaces remain vivid in our memories years after we visit them? It comes down to human connection. A digital shopping cart can remember your payment preferences, but it cannot remember your face. It can't notice the way your eye caught a specific vintage piece, nor can it share an intimate conversation about the global artisan who spent weeks hand-weaving a single textile.
“We never want Few & Far to become a simple transactional catalog. As we grow, our core promise is to protect the soul of the brick-and-mortar journey—the feeling that you are entering a warm, welcoming home filled with secrets waiting to be found.” — Tara Solberg, Founder
Tara's latest founder reflection is a gentle invitation to step away from the digital noise and return to the simple pleasure of physical discovery.
Walk through our doors, feel the honest materials for yourself, and discover the singular pieces that will add real soul to your home.
Drawing from years of experience in homewares and design, we celebrate conscious buying, artisanal craftsmanship, and are driven by the belief that every space should be a collection of pieces that tell stories from past and present and make ways for the narrative to continue in the future. Our mission is to inspire, guide, and help you weave a unique and meaningful story within your own walls.
